Contracted by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, C.E.C., Inc. (C.E.C.) implemented and oversaw the rehabilitation of the Belle River Pontoon Bridge on LA Highway 70 in Assumption Parish, Louisiana.
The bridge was constructed in 1958 and was deemed deficient by the state; thereby prompting LADOTD to replace the bridge.
The scope of work performed by C.E.C. for this project includes:
- Removing the existing pontoon barge
- Installing a new pontoon barge
- Removing and replacing: the aprons, winch, and fender system
- Removing the existing towers
In order to accomplish this considerable project, C.E.C. constructed the 350-ton pontoon barge in a warehouse adjacent to the job site.
Following construction, C.E.C. rolled the replacement barge from the warehouse with Monmouth dollies and the lifted and placed the pontoon into Belle River using two stiff-leg cranes. The pontoon was floated one mile downstream to the bridge site where construction was completed.
