Causeway Boulevard Interchange Phase I
C.E.C., Inc. (C.E.C.) was contracted to provide all structural steel erection for phase I of this $35.6 million LADOTD project. The goal of this project phase was to improve efficiency and construct five dedicated ramps at the Causeway Boulevard interchange.
178,000 drivers use the Causeway Boulevard interchange each day.
The new ramps built during the project phase included:
- An elevated on-ramp from northbound Causeway to I-10 westbound
- A ground level on-ramp from northbound Causeway to I-10 eastbound
- An off-ramp from I-10 westbound to ground level North Causeway and Veterans Boulevard
- An elevated off-ramp from I-10 westbound to northbound Causeway for drivers traveling to North Metairie and the Northshore
- An off-ramp from northbound Causeway to Veterans Boulevard
Causeway Boulevard Interchange Phase II
C.E.C. was contracted to provide structural steel erection for phase II of this $51 million LADOTD project. Constructing five dedicated ramps on the west side of the I-10/Causeway Boulevard interchange was scope of the second part of the Causeway project.
The new ramps built during the project phase included:
- An elevated on-ramp for drivers traveling south on Causeway from the Northshore and North Metairie to I-10 westbound that will tie into the existing ground-level I-10 westbound on-ramp
- An elevated on-ramp for drivers traveling south on Causeway from the Northshore and North Metairie to I-10 eastbound
- An elevated ramp for drivers traveling south on Causeway from Veterans to I-10 eastbound that will tie into the existing I-10 eastbound on-ramp
- A ground-level ramp for drivers traveling south on Causeway from Veterans to I-10 westbound
- Existing I-10 westbound off-ramp to southbound Causeway was shifted slightly to make room for the new ramps
In order to perform this project, I-10 and Causeway Boulevard road closures were required. However, C.E.C. was able to keep closures to a minimum, thereby impacting the flowing of traffic as little as possible.
