C.E.C., Inc. (C.E.C.) was contracted by the LADOTD to repair the Houma Navigation Canal Bridge in Terrebonne Parish, LA.
Areas of repairs include concrete, structural steel, earthwork, mechanical, electrical, paint and coatings, and operator’s house improvements
C.E.C. is required to maintain swing span balance at all times and to keep the bridge open to roadway traffic at all times except for approved closures.
The scope of work includes:
- Removal and replacement of the movable traffic barriers and all associated machinery,
- Removal and replacement of the entire swing span hydraulic system
- Removal and replacement of bridge fender system
- Structural repairs including repair of cracked structural and broken welds, balance block pocket repair, lateral bracing repairs, end panel and wingwall repairs, bent cap repairs, removal and replacement of sidewalk and curbs, access ladder modifications, and machinery platform and catwalk addition.
- Containment, removal and existing lead-based paint and repainting of structural steel
- Removal and replacement of the operator’s house including the entire electrical system
- Maintaining daily and temporary bridge operations including traffic control
- Addition of a parking area for the swing span maintenance and operation
- Repair and rehabilitation of the end wedge system
- Repairs to concrete approach slabs
